The Dave Trader Jiu-Jitsu kids team traveled to Richmond, VA on December 1st to compete in US Grappling‘s latest tournament. The tournament has both adult and youth divisions. For the adults they followed the submission only format (no points, no time, fight to the tap) and for the youth divisions they followed the normal format of timed matches with points. The team did very well, bringing home 7 medals, including two gold, three silver, and two bronze.
Koen Gorham fought extremely well placing 1st in both his gi and no-gi divisions. Koen finished three of his four matches with the guillotine choke!
Shelby Cesario fought in both the youth and adult divisions. She placed 2nd in the youth gi division as well as 2nd in the adult female white belt division. Great job Shebly!
Keegan Daley placed 3rd place in his gi division, winning his first match by points. In his next match he fought very well but was unable to get the point advantage over his opponent and took home the bronze medal. Good job Keegan, keep up the hard work!
Nathanael Wilson placed 2nd in his no-gi division, submitting his opponent with an armbar in the semi-finals round. Nathanael also placed 3rd in his gi division.
Congratulations to all the kids who fought on Saturday! Thanks to the rest of the DTJJ kids team that helped these four students prepare for the competition, and thank you to all the parents and students that came out to support the team!
